Department of Software Engineering is one of five departments under the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – VNU-HCM. Established in 1989, the department has steadily grown in scope and impact, in parallel with the rapid development of the software engineering field.
The Department of Software Engineering contributes to the education of both undergraduate and graduate students within the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering. It helps students build a strong theoretical foundation in Computer Science along with essential practical skills in the field of Software Engineering, preparing them for a wide range of career opportunities. Graduates with a Bachelor of Engineering degree are well-equipped to pursue positions such as software developer, requirements analyst, software architect, technical team leader, or software engineer. Meanwhile, those holding a Master's or Ph.D. degree are fully capable of advancing their careers in both academia and industry, in areas related to Computer Science and specialized domains within Software Engineering.
Faculty Members
Since its establishment, the Department of Software Engineering has grown significantly in both scope and strength. The current team consists of 2 Associate Professors, 3 Ph.D. holders, and 3 Master's degree holders. In addition, there are over 10 Ph.D. candidates and dozens of research-oriented graduate students actively participating in the department’s academic and research activities. The department also maintains close collaborations with reputable visiting lecturers from both domestic and international universities.
